New Graduates of Creating The Change We Want (CCWW)

CONGRATULATIONS to a whole new group of  CCWW Graduates working to create positive change where they live.

The most recent city-wide CDF-CCWW co-facilitation training session was held during 6-month period October 2014 to April 2015. This included 2 full-day facilitation sessions based on the CCWW Guide, followed by team practices in the neighbourhoods, with a follow-up session on February 12, 2015. More practice time on using the guide culminating with graduation event on April 24.

The group was the largest to date, with 36 participants representing 18 different neighbourhoods. Of the 36 participants, 11 were staff of various community organizations with 25 residents from these communities. Two participants were residents that already took the training and who were mentoring other residents. (resident-mentors) Two residents are members of Citizen’s Academy in partnership with SEOCHC. Of note this year is the participation of the Ottawa Coalition of Community Houses. We welcomed staff and community volunteers from the following Community Houses:

1. Banff Avenue Community House
2. Confederation Court
3. Rochester Heights
4. Russell Heights
5. Morrison Gardens
6. Michèle Heights
7. Pinecrest Terrace

Coming Soon:

We have two new workshops in development, one based on encouraging more people to vote called ” Making Votes Count Café” and the other called “Getting the Word Out” to help residents identify key strategies on how to engage others in community capacity building activities. Both workshops will be included in the CCWW Guide and training sessions on these workshops will be offered to CCWW participants  in 2015.
