Nadia is a dedicated resident leader in her community. She has been involved in community activities since she has been living in her neighbourhood. Nadia attended and graduated in the CDF-Creating the Change We Want training as she continued with community engagement. The COVID-19 did not stop her involvement in the neighbourhood; she has been connecting with neighbours ever since.
Nadia has been cooking for her neighbours who cannot make it; she also does some calls to check-in with neighbours. She writes small notes of encouragement to her neighbours just to keep their spirits up during the pandemic: “the sun is going to come up very soon”. This gesture is much appreciated by a man who says to her: “I don’t know if you are a member of a church but I am really thankful and appreciate what you have done to me“.
One day Nadia was passing by the elevator in her building, she saw words of encouragement which were posted on the elevator. Inspired by those words, she created an “Inspiration” Board on which she wrote the message: “Even in isolation you are not alone. God loves you and others are praying for you. Don’t lose hope”.
The message on this board is about self-care, tolerance, diversity, gratitude, kindness, love, inclusion, tolerance and acceptance.
Nadia is much appreciated by her neighbours for her kindness. She made masks for many neighbours who needed them. Right now Nadia is involved in a group of 5 people who are putting their effort together to rally against bullying in the neighbourhood.
Also Nadia volunteers at the Fruits and Veggies as well as at the Food Bank programs in her neighbourhood, As well she attends community meetings and leads icebreakers on zoom although she does not have any technology tool.
