First Ever Carlington Arts Festival

Pop-up art, live music, and BBQ, oh my! On May 24th the first ever Carlington Arts Festival took place in the Carlington neighbourhood. In the morning neighbours wandered around Caldwell Avenue, painting a community mural, learning how to sing, getting henna tattoos, drumming, and listening to the music of the Big Bucket Band and the Big Soul Project, among other art activities. Then, after taking shelter from a surprise downpour, festival-goers walked over to Alexander Park for more art stations and a free Family Fun Day BBQ hosted by the Carlington Community Association.

It was a great neighbourhood turn-out, with people of all walks of life taking part. The Carlington Arts Initiative spearheaded the event, and with the partnership of the CDF and the Carlington Community Association, the festival was a great success.
