About Overbrook – Four Corners:
The Four Corners neighbourhood is central to the Overbrook community and is in close proximity to grocery stores, parks and public transit. The neighbourhood houses a diversity of residents who are active and engaged in their community.
The following symbols and text are what residents and service providers in Four Corners have decided they want to work on together.
Access to Space
Working on improving existing community spaces through beautification, improved safety and new amenities such as playground equipment, as well as increasing opportunities to reserve space for community gatherings and programming within neighbourhoods.
Employment
Working on increasing employment opportunities both locally and city-wide for youth and adults.
Health and Well-Being
Working on increasing opportunities for local residents to improve their health and well-being through providing health and well-being resources, programming and events directly in neighbourhoods.
Access to Community Services
Working on increasing knowledge of and ability to use local and city-wide community services.
Connecting Neighbours
Working on increasing opportunities for neighbours to get to know, understand and support each other.
Good Food for All
Working on increasing local opportunities for accessible, healthy, affordable and culturally appropriate food.
Personal and Property Safety
Working with communities to develop policies and make improvements in neighbourhoods to increase reported levels of safety as well as local residents’ perceptions of safety.
Opportunities for Children and Youth
Working on increasing local recreational, social, educational and pre-employment opportunities for children and youth.
Civic Participation and Leadership
Working on providing local opportunities for residents to become involved in their communities through volunteering and engagement in decision-making.
Traffic and Walking Safety
Working on opportunities to reduce traffic injuries and increase pedestrian and bike safety.
Responding to Development
Working with communities to adjust to rapid population growth in rural areas and major developments in urban areas.
Beautification
Working on increasing the physical appeal of local communities through community clean-ups, gardens and other greening initiatives.

Each neighbourhood has developed an action plan so that residents and service providers can keep track of how their organized activities are working for change. The activities and initiatives are sometimes organized by residents, sometimes by service providers and, very often, organized together.
